Infatuated with the radio and record player as a wee lass, Jonelle constantly listened to music. Her love of music grew when she began orchestra in elementary school and later developed into a music education degree. During college she fell in love with percussion instruments and played in Percussion Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, and Marching Band. She interviewed with the international organization Up With People, and upon acceptance began a 12 month world tour performing in Australia, Alaska, Canada, Hawaii, Mexico and the continental United States. This led to more travel and studying multiple subjects including religions, metaphysics, and child development.
She enjoys giving back to the community by volunteering for Boise Music Week, Hymns of Thanksgiving, and Christmas at the Cathedral, events that are free to the public. She has been blessed with opportunities to be a musician in amazing churches and concert halls including Sydney Opera House and Carnegie Hall. She has been recognized as a distinguished educator, and is known for her patience and kindness developing young musicians. She has maintained a private studio for 25 + years and in 2016 began traveling 2 1/2 hours once weekly to McCall and teach the High Mountain Strings program, a McCall Music Society after school initiative bringing strings education to Valley County. She and her husband enjoy spending time with their son and fur babies, and maintain a certified wildlife habitat in their small urban yard. *Special thanks: Dale Ball, Shirley Madsen, John Hamilton, Lea Telford, Mel Shelton, David Wells, Harriet Dean, Craig Purdy, Marcellus Brown, John Baldwin, Daniel Stern, and Donna Veatch. |
